Done with 75% watercolor, 15% Acrylic, 7% Colored pencil, and 3% panic/frustration/tears/regret
So finally 3 days after my sunday deadline, I finish my princess mars picture. I've had troublesome artworks before, but this one managed to get on my nerves more so than some. Mostly the fire part....it's one of my weaknesses and it came off fairly well, but the bottom portion of the "fire bending bow" just looks....bleh. Although the lava fire, is just pretty and I should have gone with that instead. Oh well. You live and learn.
On the flip side, I may have had a harder time with mars because she's one of the characters I like the least. She's pretty much the goddess of war, which enhances her fiery personality! Oh joy, let all the fire-related jokes commence! lol Well...that and having to use ORANGE, which is a color I detest because the planet mars is more of an orange red planet rather than red. So yeah thats probably why I dealt with problems. BUT ITS OVER! OH THANK GOD ITS OVER!
In the sailor moon manga, Phobos and Deimos castle is referred to, but never shown. So....I came up with my own version. Mars has two pet ravens (crows?) Phobos and Deimos so I incorporated that into the design as well (not to mention the symbol for mars). I didnt want to have the castle on just Phobos or Deimos, so I have it floating kinda between the two (although it's closer to Deimos rather than Phobos, cuz I have princess mars on Deimos).
Okay so why the Lava? Refer back to my comment on Mar's fiery personality: It's EXPLOSIVE. Not like fireworks, more like molten lava. LOOK OUT! RUN! OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...RUN! Also Princess Mars could totally thrive on a planet like that for archery practice. >_>
