Special note: This won 3rd place in the watercolor division of the Iowa State Fair 2016.
This is a painting of a barn that my great grandfather built in the early 1900's. It's still on my grandmothers property, but is relatively unused. There are ghosted figures of my great grandfather John (who was amish) and my grandfather Chris (who left the amish church to become Mennonite). The "starry haze" represents the lifelines of John and Chris. John lived a very long life, and Chris died young from complications of Cancer.
Realized at the fair that there is a FACE (or two...the second face is hard to see) in the starry haze looking down at the barn. If I noticed it earlier I would have taken it out. OH WELL. No point in removing it now....
